What do students learn in your classes? What is the expected outcome?
Students learn not only textbook contents but how to collaboratively learn with other classmates, which means that I want every student to get an "A" in my class. My teaching method is to give students as much student-centered and collaborative learning as possible so they can create their own ideas and share those ideas with other students.
Why did you start teaching?
Martin Haberman said that "Schools should be built better and kept up better than banks because there's more wealth in them." I believe that teaching students is the most important thing in the world—students are influenced by their teachers a lot more than any others.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher by Harry Wong
Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know.
I am a believer of "Social Learning Theory," in which people learn by what they observe from their teachers' modeling, attitudes and emotional reactions. That means that we, as teachers, should be good role models for our students.
